Restoration + shade canopy for the jetty at Point Samson
Design, DA + IFC documentation

Brief + Proposal

The restoration of the original jetty at Point Samson, including the construction of a new shade canopy over the head of the jetty, was a project we completed in 2014 after being engaged by the leasers of the land, Rio Tinto.

The project had multiple stakeholders, including the City of Karratha, the local Port Authority, EPA, Department of Environment and Heritage and our clients Rio Tinto. After significant liaison with all parties, we provided a thoughtful and ecologically sensitive design response for the restoration and new shade canopy.

After the design was tentatively approved by all stakeholders, we produced 3D renders and an animated fly-through to assist with the community consultation stage. After a lengthy period of comment and liaison with the community, the project was approved in 2015.
